Care Package Received & A New Picture of Liam

Finally!!! It has been 7 weeks since I mailed Liam's care package and today I saw that they received it. So excited to know that first of all he received it but secondly that they know who is sister is now.
It has also been 4 weeks since I have had a new picture of our sweet Liam. I know to some this may not be seem like a long time but when you are used to seeing an updated picture of you son's face every couple weeks (or less) this IS a long time. I know that we are extremely blessed to have this resource....do not get me wrong. It is however torturous to go on the Internet everyday to see if there might be a picture and then be disappointed. I LOVE seeing him and seeing how much he is growing and changing. Especially with this new haircut....check it out. He is still the cutest thing ever!

Gotcha Day Then....and Now!

Gotcha Day Then...06/28/2010

Gotcha Day Now...06/28/2011

Gotcha Day!

It has been a wonderful Gotcha Day. We started the day off with a present and a very sweet card made by Morgan. Morgan made Lily breakfast this morning which consisted of a cheese egg and bacon. Mason gave Lily one of his webkinz...a horse, which Lily tried to ride. We then went to see the dollar movie with my sister and her kids and a friend of ours and her two girls. (We missed you Cortney!). Lily lasted about an hour and then we walked around outside until the movie was over.

Then it was nap time. After getting her to sleep, I went in and put balloons over her bed. She LOVES balloons. After 3 1/2 hours I went in and woke her up. She was a little out of it and I don't think appreciated them as much as she would have if she woke up on her own.

Finally we met my sister and her family and my father (my mom was out of town on a mission trip) for dinner at one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. All in all it was a good day!

100 Blessings Quilt

If I have missed any of you through email (or I didn't have your email address) and you would like to participate in Liam and Miles' quilts, please see the letter below.

Dear family and friends,

As you are all aware, Fred and I are in the process of adopting two little boys….one from China (Liam Benjamin-Bao Waite) and the other from Ethiopia (Miles Milton Waite). While we are waiting for their arrival, we are working on a project that we would be honored to have your help with. We are creating something called a "100 Blessings Quilt."

To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or "100 Good Wishes Quilt"….what we are calling a “100 Blessings Quilt”. Even though Miles is not from China, we plan to provide him with a Blessings Quilt as well. It is a custom to invite family and friends to contribute a square patch of cloth. The patches are sewn together into a quilt that contains blessings from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
If you would like to contribute to this project, we would love it! Here is what we would like you to do:

1. Choose ANY 100% cotton fabric that you like. It can be a design and color that you like or you think represents each child. It could be a bit of fabric that you've used to create something else wonderful for your family.
2. Cut one 8X8 square from the fabric for each child. Also, cut a scrap piece of that same fabric that you can attach to your blessing card for each child.
3. Include your "blessing note" and attach the scrap piece of fabric. Be as creative as you would like. It can be as simple as on a piece of paper, or you can make it like a scrap book card. We will place all your blessings in a scrapbook.

Ideas for selecting fabric squares:
*Select a fabric that is meaningful to you.
*100% cotton fabric is best, as it washes and wears well.
*If there are several members in your family, please feel free to send more than 1 set of fabric per child. It would be so special to include blessings from all members of your family!! In China, these quilts were originally made from garments of family and friends, which would surround the child with blessings.

Ideas for blessings note:
Well... what would you pray for a child to have in his life? Keep in mind that they will read your note numerous times during their life.
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedules to help us create this very special keepsake. This is something that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Much Love,
Fred and Kelly Waite

Lily and Markers Just Don't Mix..

Ok, so I was trying to start potty training today, which was a total flop. But, that is why she has no clothes on and in her panties. She refuses to sit on the potty with any clothes on. My other children were so easy when it came to potty training. I just don't think Lily is ready. I took her to the potty every hour, but she still peed on herself 3 times this morning. Of course she came to me after she peed. Anyway, I left her at the table to color. Yes, with markers because she refused to color with anything else. I went to check my email when she comes in to me with a marker in hand, proud of her creation. I think I will stick with crayons from now on.

We had a fun morning with some of the families from Lily's playgroup. Then off to lunch at Brixx Pizza and home for nap. Well, nap for Lily anyway. I always have stuff to do and treasure this quite time to do it in.

Our home away from home...Daufuskie Island

I set out for Daufuskie Island with my mom, Lily and Mason for a few days of R & R. The weather has been great and everyone is having a great time. It is so hard to go home after being here for a few days, but my saving grace is knowing we will be back real soon! Here are a few pictures of our last couple of days. We have one more full day and then we head back on Monday morning.
