Immunization Day & The Pearl Market

This we went to the Pearl Market in Guangzhou. It is a wholesale market for pearls where people from all over the world come to buy pearls. I got a strand of black pearls that cost $300.00 US dollars but will appraise for $3,000.00 in the US. We also picked up some gifts while we were there. Before heading back to the hotel we had a little taste of America and ate at McDonalds!!! Taste just like home. It was nice to have a drink with ice in it as well. Missing the sweet tea and American food.
This afternoon we went for immunizations. Lily had to get three. The least amount they could have received. One in each arm and one in the leg. She cried but when they were done there were no more tears. She did great.
Lily is doing better going to sleep. She is only crying for a second and then knocks out. Better than tears for 4-5 minutes. At night she has her bottle and then points to the crib....NICE!!!
Tomorrow we are going to the zoo. Meishaung (our chinese exchange student from 5 years ago) is going to meet us there and spend the morning with us. It will be nice to catch up with her.
We miss you bunches Morgan and Mason.....kisses and hugs!!!

We are in Guangzhou!!

We arrived in Guangzhou on Friday evening. The plane ride was hard on Lily for the last 30 minutes and then throught baggage claim and then of course the bus ride to the hotel. I think she cried the entire time. And when I say cried that means screaming with a side of kicking and thrashing her little body around. I believe I got my hair pulled and my face slapped during it all. I looked like I had been in a fight with someone after it was all said and done. We had a little break from the crying after she pooped but started right back up again the whole way to the hotel. We got to our room and sure enough she pooped again. Poor thing had a upset belly, plus being extremely tired with only one morning nap all day. About 9:00 pm she got her second wind and was a wild women in the hotel room, but was glad to see her happy again.
Yesterday we had Lily's visa photo done and her medical clinic exam. She did very well and did not cry at all. There were three different doctors they had to see, height/weight/temperature, ent, surgery/general medicine. It was quite an event. Lots of groups of americans with there children. Lily will have to get her immunizations on Monday. She will need three. Please keep her in your prayers on that day.
Today we went to the Buddhist Temple, The Old Chen House, and shopping. Lily is napping now after a long morning. We will go to a Thai Restaurant tonight with our group for dinner.

Day 4 with Lily

Lily slept great again last night and is down for a nap now. We went to a museum this morning...something to pass the time. It was interesting and Lily did great. She is doing better. We had her ears checked last night and she does not have an infection. We believe that she is cutting teeth and so that is probably why she is pulling at her ears some. Also they say that with a cleft palate sometimes fluid can get back there and she will mess with them. Her cleft doest seem that bad to me, but what do I know?!?!? She does have food come out her nose when she eats, but it doesnt seem to bother her at all. She has three teeth on the bottom and 2 on the top. The only thing I have found that she doesn't like so far is prunes. I tried to give her some today so that she would go number 2, but she wouldn't eat them. Tomorrow we will leave for Guangzhou and will reamain there the rest of our stay in China. Will try to post again tomorrow night.
p.s. we have been trying to get Lily to say "pappa" today. That is daddy in chinese...while she was in her crib trying to go to sleep she could see fred thru the crib on the computer and she said it....she said "pappa". We both just started laughing.
